When the season is right, the Downtown Farmers Market is set up in Central Park. The market is open on Thursdays from 3-6 p.m. It’s a great opportunity to purchase freshly made baked goods, delicious produce, flowers, crafts and more.
Celebrate Sizzlin’ Summer Nights in downtown Aberdeen. It is the region’s largest car and motorcycle show. While visiting downtown stop in to the stores and see what’s new. This event only comes around once a summer so be sure not to miss it!
The week long Brown County Fair features something for everyone. Rides and games for the kids, concerts and beer garden for the adults, and food that everyone will love! The fair is made affordable through the “Booster Button” concept which provides grandstand entertainment for the week at one low price. Additionally, there is no entry or parking fees.
The Aberdeen Aqua Addicts Water Ski Team is a non- profit
organization that started in 1995 in Aberdeen, SD. The team has grown to include several communities including Mina Lake, Richmond Lake, and the city of Ipswich. The team is dedicated to teaching people of all ages, regardless of water skiing ability, the fundamentals of the sport of water skiing, teamwork, and leadership. The Aqua Addicts perform a show for the public on Thursday nights at Dahme Lake throughout the summer.
Enjoy the day outdoors at Wylie Park. The recreation facilities include playgrounds, recreational trails, sand volleyball courts, a softball diamond, Wylie Lake, and picnicking accommodations. Go carts, bumper boats and miniature golf are also made available by Thunder Road. Families will enjoy a world of imagination inspired by popular nursery rhymes at Storybook Land. Don’t forget to take a journey down the yellow brick road at TheLand of Oz. Watch out for the flying monkeys!
Participate in the Snow Queen Festival. This festival dates back to 1946 and has grown to include 38 locations across the State of South Dakota. Participants will gain knowledge in networking, improve speaking skills, and learn about new cultures. It is a great opportunity for young girls to represent their peers, local communities, Aberdeen and the State of South Dakota.
Sports fans can enjoy numerous athletic events in the Aberdeen area. The events may be sponsored by the Aberdeen Y.M.C.A, or area schools and universities. Athletics is a great way to get involved in the community whether you are in on the action or relaxing on the sidelines!
