Leadership and Workforce Conference to be held in Aberdeen

On May 16th, 2019, the Aberdeen Development Corporation (ADC) in conjunction with regional development partners, Advantage South Dakota and Northwestern Energy, will host a Leadership and Workforce Conference at the Dakota Event Center (DEC). The one-day conference will be from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and is designed to offer a variety of strategies for business leaders and professionals in the region to assist with leadership and current workforce challenges. The day will include large group sessions and three dynamic breakout sessions in which attendees have the choice to attend sessions pertaining to leadership or workforce related topics.

We are proud to have nationally recognized speakers featured at the event, Dr. Mary Kelly and Dr. Ed Nichols. Dr. Mary Kelly is an internationally renowned author and keynote speaker on leadership, productivity, and business growth. In 21 years as a Navy Intelligence and logistics officer, Mary trained more than 40,000 military and civilian personnel. Mary has a Ph.D. in economics, is a professor at the Naval Academy, and is the author of 11 books on business growth and leadership. Mary will lead a large group session on her book, “Why Leaders Fail and the 7 Prescriptions for Success.”

Dr. Ed Nichols has spent over 30 years in public education, and currently works with school systems, healthcare organizations, business teams and non-profit groups in strategic planning and team development. Ed specializes in Emergenetics, a program that assesses and studies strengths of individuals to improve overall productivity. As a certified Emergenetics associate, Ed works with many organizations to achieve more creative teams, and to improve problem solving in the workplace. At the event, Ed will highlight strategies on how to understand, direct, and manage different generations in the workplace.

Breakout sessions will feature area and regional speakers from the Aberdeen community and the surrounding area.
